Making the Most of Employment ClassifiedsBy Alex E. Wu
The unemployment rate is as high as it has ever been in close to 30 years. With all of these people out of work, finding a job is getting tougher and tougher. You need to take advantage of every possible outlet in finding a job. Employment classifieds are a great way to get started. What most people don't know is that you can do a lot more than just look at ads. While that is the starting point, you can also be very aggressive and have your own ads posted. More importantly, there are literally thousands of places to place these ads. The more willing you are to relocate, the more opportunities that you will have. Let's start with the basic employment classifieds. Your local paper will have them in a couple of editions every week. The Sunday paper is automatic, but most publications are going with at least two times a week now to take advantage of the market. You may also want to either subscribe or go to the library and look at industry specific publications, just about every one of them has added a classified section to help out job seekers during this horrible economic climate. Now it is time to slide over to the information highway and see what is available. The internet is going to give you access to more employment classified ads than you can ever possibly imagine. These are going to take some time and skill to get through as there are a decent amount of scam artists on there and ads that don't belong in your category, but you will get used to how to get through them after a while. Once you work out the right keywords, you will be flying through them like a seasoned veteran. The next type of employment classified we are going to look at are job boards. Sites such as Monster.com and Jobs.com are nothing more than one big employment listing. They are the biggest help wanted section you will ever see. The best feature of these sites is that since they are only dedicated to employment classifieds, they are organized and easy to get through. You can easily find just about any job title that you want much quicker than dealing with the normal free classified listings. You are also going to want to check the employment classifieds on the social network pages. It may seem like an unlikely place to go but they too have added sections for people looking for jobs and a little exploration might just land you a position. Okay, we have been doing reconnaissance to this point, now it is time to go on the offensive. Start doing you own posting! All of but the print ads will allow you to make your own posting for free. You would be surprised how many employers sift through these sites looking for people that are looking for work. A great idea is to start up a blog and create another link where you can have your resume posted and put this link up on a classified or on a social page. This is basically the same process that is available to you on the job boards. Each and every one of these employment classified sites will allow you to not only post your resume for employers to seek, but you can also have job alerts sent right to you as soon as they become available. Now instead of you doing all the work, the site is working for you and you will only need to go on there when you get an alert that a job meeting your criteria has been posted.

Where to Perform Employment Background Checks Finding out someone's past for employment purposes is incredibly important. Not only is the information you find used in such delicate processes as employee screening, so you need to be sure that it's all correct and legitimate stuff that you find. Background checks are basically where you find public details about someone, and then put all that data into a single report / file. This background report contains everything from their financial history through to their birth details. It's made up of all public information, which are stored in the likes of court houses and police stations all over the country. The problem with employment background checks is that you need to be able to rely on the information 100%. In the times before the Internet, background check companies used to have to find people's records by hand, and this was actually extremely hit-and-miss. The information they came back with was often for all different people, and you could never be sure you had the correct details. Now, with the Internet, things have thankfully become a lot cleaer and transparent. Sites such as Public Records Pro allow you to type the person's name into their website, and it will then bring up all the details they have for that person. This is great, because it allows you to see exactly who you're dealing with - giving you the reassurance to you having the correct details. What's more, with these sites, you can actually search hundreds of millions of records, which means that you can search the entire bank of US public records in a matter of seconds.
